Dancing Queen plays on repeat in our house! My Dad used to have an ABBA cassette in his old surf SAAB that he’d play for my sisters and I when we were kids. Naturally I passed the joy of experiencing ABBA on to my children! Dressing up as Agnetha, Bijorn, Benny, and Anni-Frid just felt right! We had a blast singing (badly) and (wildly) dancing the night away! Due to the pandemic, we decided to trick-or-treat to just our family’s houses this year during the day, and have a small group of close friends come over for a monster mash at night! We only had one group of Trick-or-Treaters come to our house! It was not the usual, but we definitely made the most of it!

The costumes required some hunting! I bought all the pieces separately. The kid’s velvet bell-bottoms were from Amazon. They were perfect because they were warm enough that I didn’t have to layer them. Thea’s crop top and sunglasses are from Khloe Jean Clothing. They have some adorable bell-bottoms here too but, they were sold out of the one I wanted. Oliver’s turtleneck is a vintage 70s shirt that I found off Etsy and his jacket is from ZARA. Andrew’s outfit comprised of a few pieces that I found on Atom Retro. This site has tons of cool mod clothes for both men and women. My outfit consisted of these beautiful rainbow bell bottoms from Pretty Attitude. They were so comfy and I felt so funky fresh wearing them! I threw on a white turtleneck that I already owned and a gray fringe vest. The look was completed by some oversized hex sunglasses and some layered fringe earrings and honestly, I love them so much, I will wear them all the time! Then, I found a four pack of costume microphones on Amazon and our look came together!

WAIT! What about the car?!! That, friends, is my new ride! It was my grandmother’s 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle! It is pumpkin orange, a convertible, and wildly adorable! Naturally, I had to use it as a Halloween prop! I feel my grandmother’s soul so close to me when I take this little bug out for a ride to the beach. It is her spirit animal, for sure!

Hope everyone out there had a safe Halloween! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for next year! Keep it wild guys!
