I love decorating for the seasons! Fall is one of my all time favorites! Where we live, our fall season has beautiful, crisp mornings, sunshiny afternoons, and brightly colored leaves blowing all around! It is the perfect backdrop to a Halloween themed porch! I usually go the traditional route and fill my front porch with garden mums, cornstalks, and pumpkins galore! I wanted to elevate this look a little this year, so I took a look at my doormat. I had made this “HEY BOO” doormat last year using some stencils and outdoor black paint on a coco fiber mat, and when I set it out on my porch it fell a little flat. So, I jumped on to Amazon and found this cute, inexpensive, black and white striped rug. It was just what my homemade doormat needed to pop! A moody black feather wreath and some witch hats completed my Halloween porch look!

My yard was next on my list. I recently bought my grandparent’s house and the property comes with a spacious yard that has unique trees, a babbling brook with a charming bridge going across, stone walls, and an adorable gazebo and wishing well that my grandfather built! I am truly blessed to live in this truly magical place surrounded by their love! My grandmother loved to decorate for the seasons, so naturally I must carry on her traditions! In the front of our house I put a circle of witches with a cauldron that I purchased off Grandin Road. This is one of my favorite places for awesome outdoor holiday decorations! I also loaded our front steps with tons of heirloom pumpkins, gourds and mums from Pleasant Acres, my family’s garden center.

Over near the road we made a small cemetery and put 3 spooky spirits in it. Over on the bridge we set up some life-size skeletons and hung some sheer ghosts in the trees! We made the ghosts with white fabric that we tied over some fabric batting. We covered the yard with orange string lights and spotlights for an eerie effect at night. Fog machines will make their appearance on Halloween!
